I’ll admit, there are a million ways to advertise. Where do you begin? TV, Radio, Paper, Sandwich boards (joke..maybe a bad one), Facebook, Instagram, Google, Billboards, etc. It’s hard, I know. There is a ton out there and if you make the wrong move you could spend a small fortune and have little to show for it, except a good sized credit card bill. That’s where I come in, help you prioritize where you should be advertising based on years of experience.
So where do you do it..
Why? Not to get too technical, but it’s about consumer intent. You may think, what’s intent?! Intent is an intention to do an action. If we can advertise to potential customers displaying an intent to purchase a product or service you offer, we’re in business. Think of it this way…if you could only advertise to users who are thinking of your products, wouldn’t you want to do that?
So how do you do that..
Google is massive, right now it makes 27 Billion (with a B) dollars of revenue per quarter across all of it’s businesses. The main business it has is advertising on Google Search. Businesses everywhere advertise on it because it’s super profitable, because they can advertise to users based on user INTENT.
For example, say I have an auto shop and business is slow, I want drive more oil changes. Through Google Search Advertising I can show a search ad, to users who are searching “Oil Changes Near Me” in my town. See screenshot.
From there, the user will click on my ad, understand my business and visit me.
The best part about it, you only pay per click. Which means you only pay if someone engages in your ad. This sounds a little crazy, but it’s true. Your ad could serve to 1,000 people, and if they don’t click on it, you won’t pay for it. Again, this comes to why Google is so profitable, because their ads work really really well, and businesses are happy to pay for their ads because they work.
