Create Display Ads Quick and on the Cheap

Remarketing Advertising, Uncategorized
Create Display Ads Quick and on the Cheap You want to advertise via display ads (i.e. display banner ads) to your target audience, locally, but are concerned that creating digital ads is expensive and requires hiring a creative shop, right? No way! Far from it. This was the case a few years ago. If you wanted to advertise outside of search text ads (i.e. display ads to your local audience), you either needed to be a wiz at adobe photoshop or you had to hire resources to help out. Times have changed, for the better! For example, the largest and one of the most sophisticated display networks to advertise on is the GDN, Google Display Network. With this network you can advertise to your audience, locally, based on sites they're…

Google Analytics – Track Everything, Ask Questions Later

Google Analytics, Uncategorized
Google Analytics - Track Everything, Ask Questions Later Google Analytics is one of the best free tools a website can leverage. It's Google's free analytics tool which gives a robust data set on how many people are going to your site, where they're coming from and what they're doing on your site (purchasing products, filling out lead forms, etc.). Within this blog post I'm going to break down several important components I would recommend within Google Analytics.  Google Analytics - Recommended Traffic Report My favorite Google Analytics report, and report used most often, is the Source/Medium report. To access this, simply go to Acquisition -> All Traffic -> Source/Medium. Once you do this, you can see the source by each channel (i.e. direct traffic, Google Organic, Bing Organic, and any…

How Much do I Need to Invest in Digital Marketing?

PPC Advertising, Uncategorized
How Much to Invest in Digital Marketing I want to clear up a common misconception. Many folks think they need to spend a ton of money on digital marketing and literally need to have buckets of cash laying around to burn.  I have some good news, this is not the case! Nor would I recommend this. Here's why: Start small and scale My approach is to launch digital marketing campaigns with small daily budgets, prove it's worth, then scale if it's proven to drive business results. You have full control Unlike  TV, print or billboard advertising, you have absolutely full control in what you're comfortable spending and can set appropriate limits. For example, my brother has a successful business selling customized wrought iron table legs. I help him advertise and we…

Google Search Keyword Strategy

PPC Advertising, Uncategorized
Google Search Keyword Strategy As I mentioned earlier, the best place to start with digital advertising is with Google Search. Reason is you can show an ad for only users in your area who are searching the product and services you are offer, plus you only pay if they click on your ad. Not bad, right? In my last post I gave an overview of Brand keywords vs. Non-Brand Keywords.  For Brand, you should absolutely buy keywords of your companies business ONLY if you are not already in the first position on the search engine results page. If you own the top position (i.e. your organic listing is in the top spot), let's discuss non-brand. Non-brand keywords are tricky. The reason is you could either have a lot of success…

Google Search – What’s My Strategy for my Business?

PPC Advertising, Uncategorized
Google Search - What's My Strategy for my Business? The absolutely first place you should go start advertising your business is Google Search. As mentioned, Google Search works because you have the ability to only reach the users in the EXACT moment of intent to buy products or services that you're offering. So, where do you begin? Let me break this down in a few areas. 1) Geography - Google gives you complete control on where to advertise. If you're just targeting your town, you can target your town, or if you're a company selling goods everywhere, you can advertising globally. 2) The most important part are keywords to target. I'll break this down into two categories, Brand and Non-Brand keywords. Brand Keywords Brand keywords means showing your ad when…

Google Search for my Business

PPC Advertising, Uncategorized
Alright, so you're ready to roll up those DIY sleeves and start marketing your business, right?! Can I get a resounding, Yes Yes Yes! If you said no, grab a double cappuccino to get the energy pumping and come back when you're ready. I'll admit, there are a million ways to advertise. Where do you begin? TV, Radio, Paper, Sandwich boards (joke..maybe a bad one), Facebook, Instagram, Google, Billboards, etc. It's hard, I know. There is a ton out there and if you make the wrong move you could spend a small fortune and have little to show for it, except a good sized credit card bill. That's where I come in, help you prioritize where you should be advertising based on years of experience. So where do you do…

First day of the Rest of my Life: Service the Under Serviced

Uncategorized
DIY’s, I feel it’s important to share where I came and where I intend to go with this. As you likely read, I’ve been in digital marketing for over 13 years. I’ve had a great run working at companies (i.e. my last 4 years at Google) and global brands. My role has always been to help companies grow via digital, and I’ve done that. I took a lot of pride providing digital strategies and recommendations and seeing them implemented, to ultimately drive significant revenue. Throughout the course of my career I’ve likely oversaw and managed $500m in ad spend, which translated into significantly more in revenue for the clients I’ve partnered with throughout the years. For my next endeavor, I want to service the under serviced. Which is likely anyone who…
